Why Is Baidu Pan Download So Slow? Fix Slow Speeds

If your Baidu Pan download is moving at only a few dozen KB/s, making no progress for a long time, or staying at 0 KB/s, there are usually two things to check first:

1. Whether your Baidu Pan account has access to high-speed downloads.¹²
2. If it does, whether your current network can connect to Baidu's servers reliably.³

For users outside mainland China, the second issue can be especially important.

1. Check Whether You Have Baidu Pan SVIP

First, check whether your Baidu Pan account has an active SVIP membership.

Baidu currently lists High-Speed Download (极速下载) as one of the benefits included with SVIP. Baidu's Open Platform documentation also states that high-speed downloading is normally an SVIP-only benefit.¹²

So if you are using a regular Baidu Pan account and your download speed is very slow, upgrading to a plan that includes high-speed downloads is the most direct official option.

At the same time, Baidu's Help Center says that its desktop client does not apply a fixed download speed cap and that actual performance can still depend on your available bandwidth and network stability.³

In other words:

SVIP gives you access to Baidu's high-speed download benefit, but your actual download speed still depends on your network conditions.

If you use Baidu Pan regularly and already have a working Baidu account, SVIP is usually the simplest official solution.

2. Already Have SVIP but Baidu Pan Is Still Slow?

If you already have SVIP but Baidu Pan is still slow, you may see symptoms such as:

• 0 KB/s
• Downloads stuck at 0%
• Download tasks that stop progressing
• Frequent interruptions

In that case, the problem is more likely to be related to your network connection.

Baidu's Help Center recommends checking your network when downloads are slow, interrupted, or failing.³

For users outside mainland China, there is another factor to consider:

The network route between your location and Baidu's servers may not be ideal.

Physical distance is not the only factor. International routing, your ISP, congestion, and the path your traffic takes to Baidu's infrastructure can all affect real-world download performance.

Try Another Network

You can start with a few simple checks:

• Switch to a more stable Wi-Fi or wired connection.
• Restart the Baidu Netdisk desktop client.
• Pause and restart the download.
• Try again at a different time.

If other websites and download services work normally while Baidu Pan remains unusually slow, the network route to Baidu may be part of the problem.

3. Try a VPN If Your Connection to Baidu Is Poor

If you are outside mainland China, already have SVIP, and Baidu Pan is still extremely slow, changing your network route may help.

One option is to try a VPN with a server in mainland China or a nearby Asian region.

However:

A VPN does not guarantee faster Baidu Pan downloads.

A VPN simply changes the route your traffic takes. If the new route connects to Baidu more efficiently, performance may improve. If the VPN server itself is congested or poorly connected, your download may become even slower.

It is better to treat a VPN as a troubleshooting option rather than a guaranteed fix.

If changing networks and trying a different route still does not solve the problem, spending more time troubleshooting Baidu may not be worthwhile.
